Chokes

Suppression of conducted interference

Chokes from REO

Line chokes and DC link chokes relieve the supply network by compensating for harmonic reactive power. REO du/dt chokes or filters, through their design, dampen the voltage rise to values acceptable for the load. Motor chokes reduce symmetrical and asymmetrical current distortions generated on the connection line between the frequency converter and motor due to the fast switching of power semiconductors. Sine filters guarantee sinusoidal output voltage for your frequency converter. The buck converter choke, as an inductive passive component in power supply and power electronics, is used for damping unwanted frequencies or for energy saving and storage. Inductive load units (test chokes) are used when power supplies or other test objects, such as switches, contacts, frequency converters, must be loaded with a standardized active and reactive power.

REO is committed to ensuring trains become increasingly safer, today and in the future. With special chokes for railway technology, we ensure safe operation and eliminate EMC problems directly at the source.
The use of liquid cooling significantly reduces temperatures in the components – meaning less stress on insulation materials and a longer service life.
Air chokes are always required when particularly high linearity is demanded. Due to their comparatively simple design, they are not only compact but also very stable.

Mains chokes

A mains chokes relieves the supply network by compensating the harmonics reactive power, The harmonics are greatly reduced.

The conditional by the operating principle of rectification very high current peak is attenuated by the inductance by more than 60 %.

Harmonic filter

REO harmonic filters are used for the reduction of the THD (Total Harmonic Distortion).
The harmonic currents will be so strongly suppressed that a THD of less than 5% is achieved (for example in uninterruptible power supply systems).
Furthermore, the reactive power is reduced by a harmonic filter (e.g. REOWAVEpassive) and up to 30% of energy is saved.

DC-Link chokes

A DC chokes relieves the supply network by compensating the harmonics reactive power.
Similar to a line choke, the DC-link reactor acts as a passive component and helps to reduce harmonics and relieve the supply network. The DC reactor attenuates also the peak load current of the DC link capacitors.

DV/Dt – Chokes/Filter

REO du/dt Drossels or filters, due to their construction, attenuate the voltage rise to acceptable values. For short cable lengths between the Frequency converter and motor, a du/dt Drossel limits the rate of rise to less than 1000V/µs, which is sufficient for most motors and standards.

Motor chokes

Reduction of symmetrical and asymmetrical current distortions generated on the connection line between the frequency converter and motor due to the fast switching of power semiconductors. These disturbances can impair the motor’s performance through loud noises and, in extreme cases, through overheating. A conventional motor choke can provide a remedy here.

SINE WAVE FILTER

Sinusoidal output voltage for your frequency converter

  • Advantages of REO Sinus filter :
    Output voltage is sinusoidal
  • Also suitable for very long motor cables
  • Also suitable for very long motor cables
  • The efficiency of the overall system is increased
  • – Reduction of the motor noise and eddy-current losses

Buck converter chokes

The buck converter chokes as an inductive passive component in the power supply and in power electronics is used to attenuate unwanted frequencies or for saving energy and storage.

DC-Chokes

Air chokes are used when a particularly high linearity is required. By its relatively simple structure, they are not only compact, but also very stable.

Test chokes

Inductive loads are usually specially designed for an application and with reference to the applicable norms. These standards detail the tests required but also the test setups and procedures. The inductances are specially adapted to the area of application so an optimal solution may be provided.
Inductive load units are used when power supply systems or other test specimens, such as switches, contacts or frequency converters have to be loaded with a standardized effective andreactive power.

Liquid-cooled Chokes

With the help of liquid cooling losses are derived specifically about the cooling circuit and not in the environment.

By use of liquid cooling, the temperatures in the components can be reduced greatlyie less stress for the insulation materials and longer life.

Train chokes

REO is committed to ensuring trains become increasingly safer, today and in the future. With special chokes for railway technology, we ensure safe operation and eliminate EMC problems directly at the source.
This way, voltage fluctuations, short circuits, and other phenomena that occur when dealing with electricity pose no danger to train personnel and passengers.

Air chokes

Air chokes are used when a particularly high linearity is required. By its relatively simple structure, they are not only compact, but also very stable.

Chopper chokes

Energy storage in the railway sector is challenging, as factors such as cost, scalability and efficiency losses play an important role. Chopper chokes are essential components that regulate the current flow, prevent voltage peaks and thus optimise the stability of energy storage systems. Their use enables a more efficient utilisation of energy, extends the service life of batteries and opens up new possibilities for the catenary-free operation of trains.
