The electric motor is the concept for the future of mobility. But wherever electricity flows, safety must meet the highest standards. The engineers at REO AG have made it their mission to develop test systems with the best components for the entire value chain of electromobility.
REO AG offers a broad portfolio of products for test benches and testing equipment for electrical components. From current transformers to braking resistors and mains chokes to ohmic, inductive and capacitive loads. All components are manufactured at the company’s German locations in compliance with the highest quality and safety standards.
In practice, the systems are used, for example, in the testing of charging systems. To enable manufacturers of such systems to meet the statutory requirements, REO AG offers special test systems. This is because charging systems, which are used either in private, commercial or public spaces, are subject to strict regulations that guarantee safe operation for people and machines.
REO’s test systems enable providers of connectivity and eMobility charging solutions to set all common mains voltages in Germany and abroad and to test their components individually. A good example of this is the regulated three-phase AC voltage supply REOLAB 330, which is very popular with many customers. The system typically consists of a power section, which is installed in the basement, for example, and the mobile and extremely handy REO PowerFormer control with its 9″ touch panel, which enables flexible and fast testing in the laboratory itself without taking up much space.
The link (the connectivity) between the charging system and the vehicle is also tested: the connector. These are connectors (Type 1 connector, Type 2 connector, …) and socket combinations of international standards for trade, construction and industry.
Production is accompanied by a large number of research and development projects. One example of this is the use of braking resistors under extreme loads in racing. In addition to many years of experience, a growing technological know-how due to constantly new requirements ensures continuous further development and improvement of REO components.
Components for test systems
The current transformer series are available in a bandwidth of up to 150 kHz and achieve high reliability due to the previously performed and in the manufacturing process tests – whether vacuum potting, partial discharge measurement or high voltage testing. Specially adapted to the respective location, they comply with DIN EN 50178 as a standard regulation.
The REO braking resistors reliably protect against voltage overshoot in the DC link. By filling heat transfer media in the vicinity of the wound body, they achieve better heat dissipation and better pulse loading. REO resistors are short-circuit proof and self-extinguishing. They guarantee a high level of operational safety for your applications and are overload-proof in the event of short-term loading.
The matching REO mains chokes relieve the supply network by compensating the reactive power harmonics. The harmonic harmonics are thereby greatly reduced and current peaks are damped by the inductance by more than 60%.
In order to load products with active and reactive power, REO offers ohmic, inductive and capacitive loads according to the required application and operating conditions. These can be designed in different stages, which are switched directly to the load or via coordinated interfaces.
With the campaign website www.emobility-reo.de, which was specially created on the subject of e-mobility, the company offers interested parties from various industries and manufacturers from the field of electromobility a new information platform.
